“If you return to the Almighty, you will be restored” Job 22:23
Restless in frenetic movement, I arise at 4 am. And like the now swishing and whirring of the dishwasher, my thoughts seem to swirl in rhythm. I just read a portion of Scripture, but cannot tell you anything about its contents. As I look around my home, I feel unexplained dissatisfaction.
My need for quiet is paramount. I stop the dishwasher mid-cycle, and – ahh the quiet. Stillness in the morning hours are my treasure, my sanctuary. It is a time to adjust to being awake and to listen. I ask the Father to rescue me from muddled thinking and distractions. I realize I have been operating in my own strength, and ask His forgiveness.
David said, “You lead me beside still water, You restore my soul.” A restored soul knows tranquility. Renewal and restoration belong to those who love God and commune with Him. This means spending time with Him, and receiving from Him. He is our oasis, and our calm in the storms of life. He leads, guides, comforts, and heals us. As we rest in His loving presence, gratitude beyond expression swells. And Colossians 3:15, comes into focus:
“And let the peace that comes from Christ rule in your hearts. For as members of one body you are called to live in peace. And always be thankful.” (NLT).
Jesus is the daily vacation our soul desperately needs. He provides for us, and those around us. His joy is our strength. He knows what is best for His children in every stage of life. He has a plan and a purpose for each of us.
Our Father has an outcome for our good. One of the greatest results of trials is that we learn a new dimension of how worthy He is of our trust and faith. So today, let’s ask him to let His peace rule in our hearts, and be thankful.

Oh how I am with you on the peace and quiet……..recently my son moved back in with us and I am struggling to find a quiet place with the LORD. All I know in my soul is that we need to fight for that time alone, whatever it takes to spend time in HIS word! Blessings to you.
