“For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven” Ecclesiastes 3:1 (NHEB).
My heart clamors for more sometimes. What’s the yearning about? Since relocating, my husband and I have experienced more joy in our purpose than at any other time in recent memory. Doors of destiny can be availed to our heart’s content, and yet, if we aren’t filled beyond capacity with His presence, we will desire more of the good feelings, but not Him.
At this point in my life, “a time for every purpose,” takes on reflective meaning. As I look back over the past week, I am blessed and thankful for that which has occurred. A time of thankful reflection. Equally important is making time for the purpose of sitting quietly before Him. Absorbed in His presence. Still. And Listening.
In His great love, He continues to call me to Himself. I believe our heart has great capacity for love, therefore, great capacity to house His loving presence. This love which we house, is designed to be given away. So, no matter what our purpose under heaven, we need a fresh supply of love each day, each moment.
This is the theme for me. This is the season in which I find myself. While it’s certainly not the first time, there are new lessons to be learned. New growth opportunities to embrace in this time of coming away. Being with the Lord is the best nourishment for the soul. When there are symptoms of dehydration or undernourishment in the soul, we become frustrated and irritated over minutia. Sometimes there’s an inexplicable emptiness and dissatisfaction no matter where we are, or who we are with.
The Lover of our soul has designed us with these “red flags.” Warnings if you will, that alert us to the fact that we need more time with Him. I encourage you to take a step back and listen. You may feel like you have no time to listen, but I assure you, more time will be wasted in futile effort as you attempt to work around your malnourished soul.
You are so valuable, that He gave His only Son to die for you. You have purpose and destiny for which He desires to equip you. You are His reflection of love, joy, and wholeness to a love-starved, hopeless, emaciated world. The only way to be this amazing reflection, is to be filled with Him; His love, His Word. Sometimes all we have are minutes to start. But I will warn you now, His loving presence is habit forming. You will begin to find more ways to be aware of Him throughout your day. The result will be a more fulfilled, joyful, refreshed representative of His kingdom.
You are greatly loved, and you have great gifts to offer. And you are in relationship with the One known as the giver of “every good and perfect gift.”
“Every gift God freely gives us is good and perfect, streaming down from the Father of lights, who shines from the heavens with no hidden shadow or darkness and is never subject to change” James 1:17 (TPT).
